FREE your mind.

It's amazing how different elements can spark inspiration from images of a catalog, to people on the street, to a photograph from the past. It can reflect into your mood, your wardrobe, your activities, and your home.

Tribal prints are totally enticing my dreams of sitting beach side, buy a fire pit these days. They remind me of summer vacations when we would travel by truck & camper to the flatlands of Montana,SD, and Wyoming. These images are all totally plummeting me straight into summer dream-mode. (Hey, if you cant take a vaca, you might as well take one through the web!) Awww......

my current confessional

I have a confession.
I am having a love affair.

With Palm Springs.

It's true. Though we have never met, I know that it will be love when we do. I have had little tastes of "Hollywood's playground"through sites like http://www.swankurbia.com/ and http://www.ruemag.com/issues/issue-two/ . But I have to say I think my first little flutter of my lashes to Palm Springs was when I discovered Dean Martin {swooon}.

Now, when should my fiance' and I set a date to get married in this playground?

Tan lines a must.

Stripes will always be a cliche' summer print (which I totally love). But these images leave me ooogling for more relaxing stripes! So american-casually cool.....

Tan {LINES}? YES PLEASE!

Adore the muted colors!

Seattle ferry ride in this chic little number? Ugh huh! Obsessed over the pops of stripes throughout the image!

Beachwear attire with a messy beach-head, I'll take it! So retro.

He is my Sunshine

Dedicated to a man

who showed me what love should mean.

To a man who taught me to always say "I love you".

A man who introduced me to the sound of a guitar + a voice.

The man who looked at me like I was the only one in the room.

To the man who made every minute count.

Who enticed my creativity.

The man who means the world to me.

The one who will always be my Sunshine.

Happy Father's Day to my dad.

"I LOVE YOU".

crushing image.

I dont know what it is about this image (let alone know where it's from), but I LOVE IT. After keeping it in my tear sheet file for months, I thought I'd share it.

It may have something to do with being from Seattle where the sky is often grey and dreary. Adding pops of color is something I think of often. Why not have the perfect neutral backdrop and garnish it with a contrasting color.

I adore tha pages being thrown in the air as well. Music lyrics? Love letters? Bills? :)

What do you think? What makes it so impactful?

sour {but oh-so-sweet}

I think I am the only person I know, that will order an extra side of lemons with my cocktail just so I can eat them one by one. Just look how happy they make you feel seeing them in photos! It's no wonder I love this little bursts of summer.

I adore the blend of scattered lemons with this Stella McCartney (i think) skirt. This is definitely a sweet vs. sour image, that's a sour face!

This makes me smile. It's so playful with the lemonade stand in the back.

Catch the heart around the lemon? This is a fave! Cute idea.

Anthro does it right. The contrast of the yellow against the red and black are absolutely fab against a neutral background.

When life gives you lemons..... eat them (up)!

I am SO obsessed with this sequence of photos in June's issue of Wmagazine.

This color palette has inspired the color story of

what is a photo stylist?

I often get "so, what exactly is a photo stylist?" when I tell someone what I do for a living. Living in a smaller city than LA or NYC, it makes since that people do not understand what a photo stylist exactly is.

I found this description from http://www.wisegeek.com/ to be a pretty good explanation of what this field entails.

"A photo stylist is the person who sets the scenes for commercial photographers to enhance the subjects of pictures. He may work in a studio, outdoors, in homes or offices—anywhere a photographer can be found, a photo stylist is frequently on the set of the shoot as well. His job may be on the staff of a magazine, mail order company or Internet shopping site. Many photo stylists find freelance work more satisfying as it allows them to choose projects in a wide scope of genres and with a variety of photographic subjects and locations.

While many photo stylists decorate sets for a diverse clientele, a considerable number specialize in one area, such as food or fashion. This career choice may be based on industry demand or the opportunities available in the stylist’s geographic location. An area of specialization is also often favored based on the stylist’s success in set dressing for a particular genre, a talent that may emerge as the photo stylist’s career develops.

The fashion magazine industry is generally considered the field in which photo stylists are in the greatest demand. These magazines normally employ the largest number of photo stylists, as magazines tend to have a great need for professionally created moods and tones for photo shoots. Acclaimed photographers sometimes bring a photo stylist of their choice to job sites based on past success with their work.
