Breakfast in Bed gift idea.

We were invited to a couple's wedding shower with a fun theme of

"THE COUPLE'S FIRSTS".

I didn't find anything on their registry that I was inspired by that I could work off of this theme, so I decided to branch out and shoot for a

"BREAKFAST IN BED" theme or
(going with the party theme)

"First way to say 'I'm sorry for last night'.

http://www.pier1.com/Catalog/Dining/tabid/977/CategoryId/896/ProductId/5721/ProductName/White-Silver-Tray/language/en-US/Default.aspx

I knew I needed a tray to give this gift somewhat of a direction. This white tray was just right considering it was fresh, springy, not too masculine nor feminine, and not too shocking if it was not within the couple's home decor.

After finding the tray, I assumed I needed to keep everything white and minimal. I picked up 2 round plates, 2 small bowls (for fruit possibly), a small single serving butter dish, 2 coffee mugs, 2 juice glasses, 1 small carafe (creamer), (www.pier1.com) and a quality set of linen napkins. (www.tjmaxx.com)

Now time for the accessories to personalize the gift and really show that I put thought into the gift. The breakfast element: a pre-made pack of scone mix (something easy that even the groom can make!) and a gourmet jam. (www.williams-sonoma.com)

I found a set of 4 linen napkins for under $15 at TjMaxx! Adding a soft texture is a must!

Tie up a New York Times newspaper with a bow, or even use as a foundation on the bottom of the tray for an obvious connection to what the gift is all about.

Toss in a flower and ta-da, you've got one thought out gift that could save the bride or groom after their first spat. :)

*side note- I kept everything neatly on the tray (as shown), and placed it in 1 big box stuffed with paper. Then wrapped it up in another New York Times to introduce the concept from the beginning.

Do you have any other ideas that you would've added, or a different direction you could've gone?

Pancakes + Syrup? Fruit + Oatmeal? Coffee and Cake? I would love to hear them!

my fault

With all of the dreamy photos, inspiring words, and "successful" people that seem to have "THE" clothes, the house, the career, and the money........ it can get a little, well, depressing. While sitting on an old dell laptop in an unfinished room and sipping Folgers coffee out of a mismatched mug, while my uneven skin is exposed without a hint of makeup...... such is life. :)

Here is a little dose of reality when you start to

compare your life to what you see online.

I am horrible with money.

My handwritting is angled and no one can ever read it.

My second toe is longer than my big toe.

Im super indecicive.

I worry. A LOT!

I avoid responsibilities to a perfection.

When I wake up in the morning, I look nothing like I do when I leave the house (phew!)

My closet room is always messy!

I tend to be dreaming when I am in a conversation, which makes me ask for a repeated sentence.

I don't know a stitch about politics (and frankly don't care to).

I'm not the best domestic partner, by that I mean I don't like to cook or clean.

My car's gas tank is often on empty.

Sometimes I go to bed without washing my face (BAD makeup artist!!)

I judge people. (guilty)

Math is not a subject I was ever successful in, and am still not.

And that is me.

Imperfections and all.........

I promise a more uplifting post next time! :)

paper luv.

Creating backdrops with paper.

LOVE.

Pretty much adore the pencil sharpening concept!

Great to add just that pop,

of a contrasting color!

Enjoying the monochromatic palette. Just add texture.

Adore the scalloped paper! So playful!

life IS art

I always find it interesting to hear how people perceive me.
THIS made me feel ecstatic when I was tagged in a dear friend's "PIN" that simply said
"makes me think of you".
LOVE!!
(blushing and coming to realization that I really do LIVE art)

p.s. THANKS AMANDA! ;)

LA vs. NY vid from FP

Free People is one company that always inspires me. I love the relaxed, vintage, boho, casual vibe in all that they do. (I only wish I could be this naturally relaxed and put together!)

Just take a little mini vaca with this video......AWWWWW..

The adorb videos they put out always make me smile! DREAMY!

Get around the BLOCK

Unless you have been hiding under a rock (which in that case, it better have been beach side with a cabana boy) you should already know that Color Blocking is all the fad. AND I AM OBSESSED!
I often get a little shy when it comes to bold colors and prints. But this season, I am inspired by all the mixes of blues, pinks, greens, and yellows. There are so many ways to ease into this trend (that I hope stays till at least NEXT winter!), such as incorporating serving trays into your dining, nail polish colors, a brightly colored handbag, or heck...even just an ipad cover. TRY IT! IT'S SO FUN!

(Hint, if you dont want to spend $100-$300 on that pair of kelly green pants youve been envious of, scour the thiftstores! I found a kelly green skirt for $4.00 yesterday! YEAH!
